IKEA is bringing the enchantment of Swedish forests into children’s rooms with their latest collection, SKOGSDUVA. Launching globally in October 2024, this whimsical 20-piece range transforms everyday items into magical playtime adventures.

Imagine a bedroom where bed covers tell stories of woodland creatures, where bath time means becoming a wild lynx, and where soft toys teach children about nature’s most fascinating inhabitants. That’s exactly what SKOGSDUVA delivers, blending practical functionality with imaginative play.

“I drew from my own childhood memories of creating magical forest worlds,” shares collection designer Malin Gyllensvaan. “Each piece invites children to explore nature, even from within their own rooms.”

The collection takes inspiration from Swedish wildlife, featuring clever educational elements woven into everyday items. A hedgehog plush toy demonstrates real animal behavior by rolling into a ball (with child-safe “spines”), while duvet covers showcase animals in different seasons, teaching children about natural cycles and hibernation.

But SKOGSDUVA goes beyond just play. It carries an important environmental message, highlighting Swedish forest animals currently on the Red List of threatened species. Through playful design, children learn about these precious creatures and their habitats.

The timing couldn’t be better. IKEA’s latest Play Report 2024 reveals that only half of children feel satisfied with their playtime, while 54% of parents wish they could play more with their kids. SKOGSDUVA offers a solution by embedding play into daily routines.

“We’re transforming everyday moments into adventures,” explains Maria Törn from Children’s IKEA. “A simple pillow becomes a forest log, and bedtime stories come alive through our designs. It’s about making daily routines something children look forward to.”

The collection marries practicality with imagination: wildlife-inspired bedding sets, animal-themed cushions, and interactive soft toys that make learning about nature feel like an adventure. Each piece is designed to spark curiosity and make the ordinary extraordinary.

Coming to all IKEA markets this October, SKOGSDUVA promises to turn children’s spaces into enchanted forest hideaways where play and learning naturally blend into daily life.
